Police Car Chase Chaos

The above picture is a representation of me on Friday. No, I wasn’t the one being chased, but as one person said to me, “Bless your heart, you were all up in it weren’t you?”

Bill had an eye appointment because he has some trouble seeing so, I was the one driving.

We were in a traffic jam, that for our little city was packed. There are two lanes going each way with no easy way to pull over on either side.

Suddenly, on the opposite side of the crowded lane I was in, a red car came flying down the street, weaving through its dense traffic. It was gone almost before I could register what had happened.

Then. . .

I barely had time to tell Bill what I saw, when five cars like the one above come whizzing by.

I have a habit of watching out my rear-view mirror almost more than through the front window.

Seconds later, they were in my rearview mirror, coming up FAST behind me. I was stuck without a way to get out of the way, short of hitting someone. A couple of other drivers, fortunately, had seen also and got over as close to the edge as possible, as did I.

I realized they were turning down a side road at an area where you could get away, into another city, and not far from access to an Interstate highway. The only problem was, there was a train blocking the road. I said to Bill, “Oh, no!!! They’re going to loop back and come up behind us!!” So, cars are scattering like crazy. And they are behind us again. Then they were gone.

But no, wait. They circled back around from the next city over and now had EIGHT police cars chasing them! Then they circled behind us again!!!!!!!!!! Cars scatter again. This time I was able to pull over and took a non-shortcut shortcut to go home and get out of their way.

As you can guess, I was a nervous wreck. Many of you are aware I have PTSD, and this triggered it big time. I’m still shaking.

I was never able to tell anything about the driver as they were driving way too fast, nor did I ever see anything in the news. I’m thankful, as that means there were not any accidents. I don’t know if they were apprehended or not, but apparently, there were no shots exchanged; otherwise, it would have been news.
