About

Me10

Captive Dreams Window began as a blog primarily devoted to life. Now, I mainly do book reviews, however, on occasion, I will provide a thought-provoking post.

I am a prolific and AVID reader and love to blog/review books I’ve read. Most of these books have been graciously provided free. I generally review Christian books. Periodically I am asked to review other books.

I am a grandma who is constantly searching GOD’S will for her life with help from her family plus a constant large menagerie of pets. Ever striving and frequently failing, we want to become “buddies” with the Lord.

JEREMIAH 29:11

Love my family and Christ!

Blessings~

Thank you so much for stopping by my place and for the follow! I am doing the same here. As everyone has commented, 300 books a year…Wow! I would love for you to review my Rubyville series. It would be just 4 of the 300! 😉 If you send me your address at deborahanndykeman@yahoo.com, I will send you the four books free of charge. I’ve really enjoyed the reviews you’ve done here, and would be honored to hear your thoughts. If you only read on kindle/e-book, that is fine as well, but will have to get my daughter to help me with that one! I just did a PowerPoint this week and that’s about as high-tech as I can handle for a little while! It’s tough to get old! Have a great day!

Wow Robbye, 300 books a year. That is incredibly wonderful. My goal has been 52. I got some catching up to do, lol. For many years work got in the way of reading and now I’m enjoying the journey back into it. We’re always reading something. Sorry to hear of your health issues but will keep you in our prayers.

Thank you for the prayers, I really appreciate them.
Yes, I read really fast. I review very slowly (I put a lot of thought and prayer into my reviews. I want to be kind to the authors that have graciously gifted me the books. I also want to portray the books in a way that encourages others to read them. Sometimes that becomes a very fine line!)
I’m an inveterate insomniac and do most of my reading during the late evening, early morning hours.
I’m glad you are able to get back to reading.
Most of the books I receive are romances; sometimes I get other genres. I’m kind of hoping to start getting into a few other genres.
              Blessings~

Well its good knowing you are making the best out of your medical challenges and God is using you to help others with knowing what books to get based on your through review. We bet it must be a fine line at times reading others material and recommending them to others depending on your reputation.

It’s true. You woke up and found yourself in Uncle Bardie Country. Now that you have followed Uncle Bardie, you may find yourself at that fork in the road that you have to take. With Uncle Bardie for a guide, you can be comforted that you may stub your toe on a pun, find you can’t resist laughing at those things you never thought funny, and wake up to wonder what Uncle Bardie is up to. It’s okay. That itch can be scratched. Simply tune in to the next Post, It could very well be a doozy or not. Either way it will be coming from the whacky mind of Uncle Bardie. So thanks for following Uncle Bardie’s Stories & Such. It beats bananas any day. Unless…but that’s a whole ‘nother thang. And one last thing. Have a great day (or night, depending on your perspective).

I am glad you are recovering, Robby. Praying for you. I felt like the Lord wanted me to give you the sequel to Jer 29:11.

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (Jer 29:12-13, ESV2011)

Hi Robbie, I’m glad to know you enjoy reading. I want to thank you for liking my recent post. As you know from reading the post, my book “Back to the Basics: A Guide For Christian Living” is marked down this month at Amazon. Since it will only get in the hands of readers by word-of-mouth, would you please help me spread the word? I will leave two links for you (to reblog, share on facebook, or perhaps you have a better idea). Thanks. 🙂

Have you ever done a Q and A, would you have a boilerplate copy I could use on my blog? Or maybe do one for my blog along with the links for your book.

Thanks Robbie! I have not done a Q and A, but that is a good idea. On my blog, I did give a “little” advertisement. At Amazon, there is a short description and customer reviews, including Ellie’s above (she is an amazing woman of God!). Here is a copy of the introduction:

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

Great confidence gripped the Apostle Paul as he thought and prayed for the body of Christ. Paul guaranteed the believers that God would consider them “blameless” when Christ returns. This guarantee was not because of their great gifts or shining performance, but because of what Jesus Christ had accomplished in them through His death and resurrection.

As with the Philippians, God will help you grow in grace until He has completed His work in your life. It is God’s work, not yours, so there is no question about the outcome. God’s work “for” you began when Christ died on the cross in your place. His work “in” you began when you first believed. Now the Holy Spirit is living in you, enabling you to be more like Christ every day. The God who began a good work in you continues it throughout your lifetime and will finish it when you meet Him face to face.

I do not know where you are on your personal spiritual journey. Perhaps you are exhausted and spent. Maybe you have recently experienced significant growth, or you may have settled on a comfortable plateau because of an uncertain future. But I do know this: God wants you to enjoy and complete the journey! He has pledged Himself to finish the good work He began in you at salvation and will keep you strong until the end.

“Back to the Basics” is not a lofty theological work, nor is it an academic commentary. Instead, I have prepared a friendly, easy-to-use help system for every believer. This practical and easy-to-apply book will show you how to put God’s Word to work in your daily life. This book will enhance your understanding of the way life was meant to be lived.

As believers, our desire is to follow the Lord more closely and to understand His Word for maximum impact in our lives. The book you are holding was not written to take the place of personal Bible study, but is a companion and compilation of the scriptural principles I have learned and applied to my own life. It is not exhaustive, but sheds light on many issues Christians are facing today.

It is divided into two major categories: Daily Living and Doctrine. Each section has topics you will find interesting, inspiring, stimulating, and refreshing. I suggest you read it according to your current need or interest. If you want to know how to live as a child of God in your practical day-to-day affairs, then read the section on “Daily Living.” If you want a better grasp on the fundamentals of your faith, then study the section on “Doctrine.”

If you are feeling discouraged, remember God won’t give up on you. If you are feeling incomplete, unfinished, or distressed by your shortcomings, remember God’s promise and provision. Don’t let your present condition rob you of the joy of knowing Christ or keep you from growing closer to Him. God will most certainly continue on to completion the good work He began in you!

        God bless!

      I had noticed that too!
I’m like you in that I have to read!
So many authors I enjoy, in so many different genres, it’s hard to pick only a few.
My tendency, now that I’m older, is to stick to primarily Christian writers. There are others that are outside that spectrum that I enjoy, too. I’ll have to think on that for awhile.
      God’s Blessings.

Just stopping by to thank you for your recent follow on Shift Key. BTW, I, too, am an avid reader (since my teens), but a slow reader. CS/Kindle link on site to my poetry book will let you read a few for free; don’t know how to get you a free one. I’m sure you’ve heard this before – in order to be a good writer, you have to be a reader. Perusing your site. Reading has always been and remains a special part and gift in my life; one of God’s sweet provisions. Take care.

Glad to meet you. My hubs is retired military. I stumbled onto your blog through another one, I must share with you what happened.
It was about 3 AM and as per my usual MO, I couldn’t sleep and I needed to be up EARLY AM! I read another blog and saw your response and clicked over.
It had to be a God thing as we’ve been struggling with a 16 year old car not working properly and when you mentioned the coil pack-a giant light bulb went off in my head! That’s what’s wrong with the car!
So, not only do I have a new blog to follow (one that I enjoy) but I also found the answer that kept eluding me about the car.
Looking forward to reading your poems.
      Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.
God’s blessings to you and your wife!

          Isn’t that the truth.
No, not really. We need to save for it.
Plus, my hubs isn’t too mechanically minded. I’m the one that does most of the diagnostic and grunt work! This year has been one of the worst financially since we married, but God is faithful. We have a roof, food and family-the other things can and will wait.

Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my key verses. It’s kept my head above water on many occasions.

Sixty times! Wow. We’d only moved 26. That was bad enough. Of course since 18, (and before 36) I’ve moved that many more times. Happy to say that we’ve been in the same house now for 16 years! It took a long time to quit getting the urge to move again!

Thanks for stopping by and following Lessons by Heart!

Thank you for the re-blog. I’ll be doing that for a while as I have extremely limited time to get on computer for the foreseeable future!
