My Review

As I read Holley Gerth’s book, You’re Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide, I was challenged to stretch and grow in ways previously foreign to me. The Guide gives very specific, detailed descriptions of how and why we, as women, need to discover and embrace who we are and why God placed us here on earth.

The book is written in a straightforward easy to understand (and it sometimes even seems too simple) way, giving examples and illustrations along the way. Every chapter has questions to answer and exercises for you to complete. In addition, there are areas for you to journal, too.

The LifeGrowth Study is a wonderful tool for your own personal guide or for use with friends.

You’re Already Amazing LifeGrowth Guide is a companion to the book, You’re Already Amazing, by Holley Gerth.

About the Book

Three years after a tragic accident left her a widow, ER nurse Taylor Cabot is determined to move on, checking off one item after another on her survival list. Her relationship with a handsome plastic surgeon even gives her hope for the last point—“fall in love again.” At least until crisis chaplain Seth Donovan steps back into her life, reawakening unanswered questions about her husband’s death.

While in San Diego to train community volunteers, Seth hopes to learn why Taylor is backing away from the crisis team and from their friendship. But nothing prepares him for the feelings that arise when he sees Taylor again . . . and sees her moving on with another man.

When a community crisis hits home and puts lives at risk, emotions run high and buried truths are unearthed. Will hope make the survival list?

My Review

Taylor Cabot’s life spun out of control just three short years ago with the death of her husband. And many questions still weren’t answered.

Feeling the need for more control and wanting to be able to live again, she moved to San Diego and started a new life.

Dr. Rob Halston, whom she had begun dating and is somewhat of a control freak, was helping her to “control” her life, with major changes being made to her schedule, diet, exercise regime and an extensive to-do list.

But . . . God has a way of intervening, and her idyllic, structured and controlled life is abruptly interrupted on a gorgeous summer day.

Can she regain control? Will her questions ever be answered? And what about Seth Donovan, her husband’s former friend and member of the Crisis Team?

Candace Calvert’s medical trauma drama with a splash of romance book, Step by Step is Book 2 of the Crisis Team Series and can be a stand-alone book. The novel is full of optimism and faith in the midst of multiple tragedies, a story you will enjoy and think about for a long time after finishing the last word.

Hospital Admissions and “Lie-Down” Comics

I’ve recently returned home from my second emergency admission to the hospital.

My first stay was for 8 days, my second was for 6 days (my insurance ran out!)

During my second stay, near the end of the 4th day, I was feeling much better. I began to tease the staff and they were kind enough to dub me the “Lie-Down” Comic, as it was evident I wasn’t able (by virtue of IV’s in both arms) to be a “Stand-Up” Comic.

One sign that created a lot of mirth was the following:

Call B4 Fall

I maintained that I could schedule my falls, however, I really didn’t want to fall! So, I settled for calling prior to a fall, were I to fall. Fortunately, I didn’t.

Along the edge of the ceiling and the wall there was a small piece of hardware to the cameras that looked like this:

One night in my drug induced haze, and in a very dimly lit room, I awoke frightened to discover a mouse in my room. I was assured by the nurse, however that it wasn’t a mouse, nor was I the first to think it was!
