Hellos, goodbyes and mine eye cries

This has been a tumultuous year.

My mom recently passed away and I’ve still not come to grips with losing her. She had been sick with one thing or another my whole life and though she was never able and many times just not willing to do many things, she always rallied back. In addition, all the women in her family lived long, long lives.

I had one great aunt that lived to within a few days of her 103rd birthday (no, it’s not a typo), another into her 90’s, and two more still living: one 90 and recuperating from a broken hip and the other 87. So, I thought mother would probably outlive us all. Sadly, she didn’t.

The g’daughter started school. Very nervous she was, too. This is her first year to have a locker, change classes and really dress out for gym. She’s still not sure this is what she wants and is pushing HARD to be homeschooled again. We’ll just have to wait and see on that one.

Last year the kids in her class seemed to have grown during the summer, but it’s nothing compared to this year. Oh, my! She’s no longer the tallest in her class as the boys are beginning to overtake her by quite a few inches. It’s disconcerting to see the “young men” in her class and be eyeball to eyeball, or worse yet-have to look up to them!

We’ve had a tougher summer this year than last (which I wouldn’t have believed possible). I know there are many more challenges to come. Even having missed church more than I like, God has been kind and I continue to cling to His promises.

God bless and have a great week this week.
